When Margaret moved into Waterford Village, she remembers waking one morning with a quiet sense of certainty. I’m really happy, she thought. I feel like I’ve made the right decision. A year on, that feeling hasn’t changed.
“It’s hard to believe how quickly I settled,” she says. “Everything about the village is comforting and welcoming.”
For Margaret, comforting doesn’t mean slowing down. She swims regularly, attends water fitness and strength and balance sessions, and enjoys the social rhythm of village life. “One of the best parts is meeting new people and connecting with neighbours,” she says. “The spirit is warm and inclusive.”
Beyond the village gates, the wider Hobsonville Point neighbourhood offers cafés, coastal walkways and easy ferry access into the city. But it’s the sense of security at home that matters most.
“The staff are caring, professional and accommodating,” she says. “They make me feel safe living here.”
That security has given her freedom. “How wonderful to lock up and disappear on another adventure,” she says, “knowing my home is secure.”
Margaret’s week is full - time with neighbours, regular activities, and her longstanding volunteering. Life hasn’t narrowed; it’s expanded in ways that feel manageable and meaningful.
“I have 100% made the right decision to move into Waterford,” she says.
Today, she isn’t reflecting on a move she made. She’s living well in a community that supports her independence, connection and active lifestyle - and she has no intention of slowing down.
